Before the start of the 2013-2014 school year, the district welcomed four new teachers to the faculty during a three-day orientation held at Wheeler Avenue Elementary School.
The orientation was designed to introduce the new faculty members to the district and familiarize them with the district’s policies, procedures and curricular goals and objectives. Topics covered over the three-day orientation included student learning objectives, curriculum planning and design, and English language arts standards, as well as an overview of the district’s goals and education philosophy.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Adrienne Robb-Fund was on hand to welcome the new staff members. “We are very excited to have these new experienced teachers join the Valley Stream UFSD Thirteen faculty,” she said.
Maureen Morris will be joining the staff at Wheeler Avenue School to teach third grade while Maureen Byrnes will teach fifth grade, Pamela Doodnauth will teach speech and Kati Miano will teach reading at Willow Road School.
