Wheeler Avenue Elementary School hosted a winter concert series this holiday season to showcase some of the district’s brightest and most talented young musicians.
Under the direction of music education teachers Gregory Hart, Mary Frances Scott and Michael Soscia, the students performed traditional Christmas, Hanukkah and New Year’s songs for a large audience of family, friends, Wheeler Avenue staffers and Valley Stream community members in the Wheeler Avenue Elementary School auditorium. Several non-holiday tunes were mixed in, as well.
Among the many groups that performed were the Children’s Choir of Wheeler Avenue, Mr. Hart’s junior choir, Mr. Soscia’s advanced band, Mrs. Scott’s chamber ensemble and the Wheeler Avenue Orchestra.
Each of the four elementary schools in the Valley Stream UFSD Thirteen hosted winter concerts to welcome in the holiday season, and the district extends its sincere gratitude to the Valley Stream UFSD Thirteen community for continuing to support its young musicians and the music program as a whole.
