Donna Rezek, a teacher at the Willow Road School, has coordinated a St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital Math-A-Thon since 1977. St. Jude's treats children with cancer regardless of a family's ability to pay. The children at Willow Road School raised $700 in donations this year and since the first Math-A-Thon successfully raised over $17,000 in donations towards this charity. The Math-A-Thon program provides more than 70 percent of the hospitals funding. Participation in this annual event is a way of teaching children about the importance of helping those in need while at the same time reinforcing the math skills they are learning in the classroom. The students at Willow Road School take great pride in the part they play in the fight against childhood cancer and other deadly diseases. The Willow Road Students are eager to make a difference in the lives of the children of St. Jude's.
