James A. Dever Elementary School students performed in the annual Winter Instrumental and Choral Concert, demonstrating their musical skills with 12 songs before the start of holiday recess.
The concert opened with the senior orchestra, directed by Mary Ann Cali and finished with a flourish with Felix Bernard and Richard B. Smith’s “Winter Wonderland.”
The music continued with the senior chorus, directed by Johanna DeJose. They opened with Ruth Dwyer’s arrangement of the energetic calypso favorite “Shake the Papaya Down” and closed with Leroy Anderson’s holiday classic “Sleigh Ride.”
The concert band finished the show on a high note and closed with Glen Ballard and Alan Sylvestri’s “Believe” from the film “The Polar Express.”
