Students at Willow Road School combined multiple efforts to give back to those in need.
The entire school collected mittens as part of the Mitten Tree program. Approximately 158 pairs of mittens were donated to Blessed Sacraments and Holy Name of Mary charities. Older students at Willow Road School read the Mitten Tree book to the younger students as well.
Students also collected approximately 110 toys to donate to the Marines’ Toys for Tots Program and to Senator Dean Skelos’ drive, which will benefit local families in need.“We’re pleased to provide toys to children in need,” Librarian Carole Anne Gravert said. “The generosity of the students and their families is extraordinary. They’re doing whatever they can to help in our neighborhood.”
