Seventeen musically talented fourth grade student-musicians from Howell Road School and James A. Dever School attended the 12th Annual Parents Educators And Kids (P.E.A.K.) All-County Festival.
The festival, sponsored by the Nassau Music Educator's Association, provided opportunities for students and parents to engage in a variety of music classes including: cultural dances, African drumming, classroom songs, folk songs,
A Cappella and chorus.
Mr. Michael Rodgers, general music and chorus teacher at Howell Road School, served as the P.E.A.K. chairperson for this countywide event held at Molloy College in Rockville Centre. Mr. Matthew Spinks, the orchestra teacher at Howell Road School and James A. Dever School accompanied the students and their parents.
The festival concluded with a performance by 300 fourth grade students from various districts throughout Nassau County that showcased the skills they acquired throughout the day. The festival was a rousing success and the students left feeling empowered through their new musical experiences.
