Kindergarten students at Willow Road School learned about the history and tradition of celebrating Ground Hog Day.
Studying about this special event gave the students the opportunity to learn about shadows, weather and predictions. They worked on a fun-filled Ground Hog Day activity, making little ground hogs that pop in and out of their burrows. The students now know, if it’s sunny and the ground hog pops out and sees his shadow he returns to his burrow for six more weeks of winter. If it’s cloudy, the ground hog will stay out and wait for the arrival of an early spring.
