The Howell Road School Student Council, under the guidance of fifth-grade teacher Mrs. Bradley's, successfully concluded its first community project, Jump and Dance for Diabetes. This community service event was initiated to increase awareness of juvenile diabetes and to raise funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF.)
Students in kindergarten through sixth grade participated in two invigorating workout stations. The Dance Out station was led by physical education teacher Mrs. Asaro and assisted by school librarian Mrs. Geary and school social worker Mrs. Devine. Students delightfully danced to Cha Cha Slide, Hit the Quan, Nae Nae and the Harlem Shuffle. The Jump station was led by physical education teacher Mr. Olsen and assisted by music teacher Mr. Rodgers. Students joyfully jump-roped or hula-hooped at different levels of difficulty.
