Sixth-grade students at Howell Road School put their STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) skills to the test as they designed their own gingerbread houses in preparation for the holiday season.
Thanks to the generosity of the Howell Road PTA, students were able to create their own uniquely designed holiday treats. In addition to allowing their imagination and creative skills to shine, students and teachers worked together to measure the different parts of their gingerbread houses, including the four walls and two roof panels. With these key measurements in place, students calculated the area, perimeter and volume of their individual gingerbread houses.
Their finished products were beautiful edible works of art that were brought home for everyone to enjoy during the holiday season. The students greatly appreciated the generosity of the PTA.
