The week of Feb. 8 was especially exciting and memorable for students at Willow Road School. Students were busy celebrating President's Day, the 100th day of school, Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day. Classrooms, doorways and hallways were artfully decorated in celebration of these February holidays and happenings.
Students used their academic and creative skills to design books and various art projects all while learning about these important events. Mrs. Romeo's class studied about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln and made hand puppets of the two presidents. Mrs. Coryell's class dressed as 100 year olds, while other classes showed off their 100th day eyeglasses and capes. Mrs. Sciscioli's students presented $100 Smart Bucks to students in each classroom to congratulate them on being 100 days smarter. The kindergarten classes designed and assembled a beautifully decorated hallway-length dragon. Each scale of the dragon was individually created by a student in recognition of the Chinese New Year and the 100th day of school. In honor of Valentine's Day, Mrs. Shaw's and Mrs. Mitchell's classes created their own personal Valentine mailboxes for the Valentine's Day cards they received from each other. It was truly a week to remember.
