Fourth-grade students at James A. Dever Elementary School participated in the Native American Journeys, a unique in-house field trip that enhances and brings to life the fourth-grade social studies curriculum. Journeys visited Dever and immersed the students in the Native American way-of-life, both past and present.
The interesting and engaging hands-on activities captured the children's attention and imagination, providing a learning experience they will never forget. Students participated in several activities including assembling a longhouse, storytelling, Native American games, creating a duck decoy made from clay during arts and crafts, song and dance, and learning history from a Native American perspective. It was truly a memorable learning experience.
